Where can you buy Aloe Vera leaves?

Many people do not buy a brand, they buy the actual leaf, skin it and make their own juices or lotions from the gel inside. Ultimately this is the best solution for the purest gel.

For making an Aloe Vera drink you will need a large leaf from a mature plant and you can see one of these being prepared in the first video on the page How to use Aloe Vera. These leaves can be purchased in the Americas, Africa, Asia and Australia from normal grocery stores. If yours does not stock them ask the owner, he or she may be able to source them from his or her wholesaler. Because the leaf has a very short shelf life it is not generally available in Europe

For cuts and burns a smaller plant can be used and these can be purchased in most gardening stores world wide. Make sure the spieces you are buying is Aloe Barbadensis Miller as not all types of Aloe are effective and some are actually dangerous. The second video on the page What is Aloe Vera? shows someone using a leaf from a pot plant to treat a cut to the hand.

Aloe Vera also grows in the wild in the Caribbean and Africa as well as some parts of the Americas. Again, make sure it is Aloe Barbadensis Miller before using it.
